    Default Cigarette Boxes

Strange that I wanted to draw this?!
    Considering I've never smoked.

But, there were a couple of reasons.

Firstly. I wanted to see if I could do all the different bits and pieces.

Secondly. Cigarettes have been in the news, in the UK, recently.
In shops, all Cigarettes are to be kept out of sight (behind closed door of cabinets etc.), and all advertising is to be removed.
It is being suggested that attractive looking boxes attract smokers, and removing all brand markings will reduce smoking.
Of course the cigarette companies deny this, saying that this will make counterfeiting very easy, leading to even greater dangers.

    What do you think?

    Cool Re: Cigarette Boxes

I saw someone suggesting today that there will be a booming trade in branded cigarette cases ... remove the ciggies from the blank box [blank except for very graphic pictures of offal] and put them in the cases. Perhaps the tobacco companies will supply these cases themselves.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the vast tobacco tax revenue disappears. Cars containing the infernal combustion engine being one colour and shape? Lager in white cans marked "Lager"? Guns? Politicians [no parties, warning labels on local councillors].

    Good pix Rik

Good (bad?) work on the boxes - it's the kind of artwork the companies like - hygenic, sanitised.

As to the move to remove branding and put the cigarrettes behind shutters - good. Anything to deglamourise the killing sticks is good. Branding is important to companies as a product differrentiator. If there are added dangers from homgenised packs, then it's down to illegal black-market activity.

Great job, Rik. Working for a living is hazardous to our health. I wish they would ban that.
