Default Web Designer image names online in a search engine

I was wondering if the new web designer upgrade program still names images as numbered.jpg or.png files? I was just thinking along the lines of people doing searches for images online in a search engines. The images wouldn't show up unless they were named with the search engine word correct? Well, I've had a couple websites that I've built a few years ago and they work just fine. And people find the webpages through search engines with the proper wording information one the pages. But I'm guessing that they don't find imagery on these pages from my site because of the numbered images. Is there a way to have the images show up as a name? Does the "Pop up Title" information correct this? Well, any help would be much appreciated.
I want to still be working in this program when I'm an old man sitting in my recliner.

Select the photo on the page you wish to have exported with a name
    Right-click>>Names..
Enter filename="TheName" (do not add the .jpg extension)
    Press Add.
    Done
