Extending page margins on template?

Does anyone know how to extend the page margins when working with a template? I'm trying to add a logo to the top of a page that extends beyond the page itself.....but when I preview it the top half of the logo is cut off.

move your mouse to the right edge of the page and drag it to desired position

That won't help extend the viewing space above the page.....unless I don't understand something here. I am able to extend the space above the page, making more of the background appear between the top of the page and the top view of the window, but anything in that added space is not visible, just gets cut off.

Does turning off "clip to page edges" help ? (found under web properties - website tab)
