Wink Heyy, can anyone help me identify this painting?

My Grandpa just gave me this painting as I've loved it for years.

Apparently it was given by the Royal Family to his Aunts who were dressmakers in Windsor.. Anyway, here are the pictures.

Possibly Van Hove? But there are lots of Van Hove's so I'm not sure which it is.

You will have better luck if you contact one of the major auction houses, Christies, Southebys. Their people are art historians who will have a much better background and ability to help you.

I'm not sure but you might be able to submit the photo via their website.

The artist looks to be Van Hier - going mostly by the signature (full name Joachim Van Hier - he had a few aliases as well such as Joachim Hierschl-Minerbi). He was born in Trieste in 1834 (although is considered Austrian). I couldn't find a reference to this particular painting (but he has done some paintings of a similar style to this and several on the same sort of subject).

    Regards
