    This was by a Belgian artist called Antoine Wiertz - "Hunger, Madness, Crime" - 1864 (using the book Steve found as a search reference). Good job on finding it guys, I think it's a pretty obscure painting ...

    ... pretty grim aswell.

    Ar I just solved this and then spotted "Page 1 of 2" as I was checking over my post! Well, for future reference the key to getting started with the book and the ISBN is TinEye.
