Expanding number of layout templates

Is there anyway to expand the number of layout templates from the max of 20 to more, say 50+?

None.

But you could add a collection of custom templates to the designs gallery easily enough.

Thanks Sledger! I'll make some custom designs gallery templates. Good suggestion, but how do I do that?

Assume your custom templates are in folder: c:/page_templates

Open the Page&Layer gallery
Press 'Disc Designs'
Browse to folder c:/page_templates
Press 'Add'
Press 'Create' on the dialogue that pops up.
A new folder in the P&L Gallery is created named c:/page_templates

Simply create a folder for your extra templates and save your .xar files there. Click the disc designs button, and navigate to your new folder and open it. click the Add button and Xara will ask you if you want to create an index click yes and your folder will be added to the designs gallery.

You can now either open a file directly by double clicking it in the gallery or drag it to a new blank document to create a new document based on the template.
