gif animations stop working

I've had a number of occasions where different animated gifs have stopped working. When I first put them on the page, they preview & work fine.
They continue to do so through a number of updates/edits to the site. Then, I'll go to preview the site later on and the gifs don't appear
or there is just the box with the red X. What am I doing wrong?

You have most probably lost the support folder. When you embed an animated gif in your document, the support folder is created along with your design file on your HDD. It contains all the embedded files. When you move or rename your design file you must make sure you do the same with the support folder. The support folder is always located in the same directory as your design file, and it's name is based on the name of your design file.
For example, if your design file is named mydesign.xar , the support folder is named mydesign_xar_files .
