    What I do is have the fur on it's own layer and that allows me to hide the fur layer by clicking the eye icon and I can easily move or resize the drawing etc. Then when I am done I un hide the fur and wait for redraw. You could create bitmap copies of the fur groups and that would lessen the load on the system and make redraw faster, but then you have to consider that the drawing would no longer be completely vector.
