Default Removing/Isolating object from a photo

I'm kinda new to Xara Photo and graphic Designer 6. I have photos of appliance spares. I need to use only the images of the spare parts for an advert(of which the background will be white) - I dont want the background of the photo. How do I achieve this?

Hi Zakiyya. Welcome to the Forum

How to remove a background is a frequent request. Looks like Steve has gotten you started.

    Welcome to TalkGraphics Zakiyya

I used the Shape Tool (F4), with the Straight Line option to make an outline of the shape I wish to isolate. I work at a very high zoom to get the most accurate tracing. I drag straight line segments then drag the line segments into curves.

In the case of the table shown in the attachment, the top was fairly round so I used a circle for that portion. The blue outline shows the closed path I created.

Then select the closed path outline and then photo, and with the closed path on top, from the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes.

The tiny black squares in the blue outline are the individual control points created with the Shape Tool.
