Please don't laugh when I tell you that we had a Papillon (a Papillon Nain to be precise) until recently (silly bugger ate rat poison and died, buried him on top of a neighbour's Labrador, long story, tell you another time over a bonfire and roasting marshmallows and roquefort toasties, the kind that sticks needles in your tongue). However, you clearly have far too much time on your hands at this time of night (a little like a certain gascon beret) so we should probably pop down to the local épicerie and see if we can get ourselves a life...

Ahem to get back to Rik's original topic, I could see some use for this but it would be something I would play with not something I couldn't live without. Of course some may have a lot of use for it. I have to wonder too if this would be a major thing for Xara to implement? Possibly more so than an eraser.

The really good thing about the Illustrator 3D tool is that once the object is how you want it, you can expand it and it becomes true vector. (see attached)

It is what the 3D tool in Xara aspires to be, one day

Hi Rik, I have used the 3D Revolve Tool, by the way the Revolve mapping is much better than the Extrusion, fairly frequently in ads. & posters and I like it. But the function I like the most in the 3D Tool is mapping art. Forget all the messing about with the Mould Tool that you have to do in Xara when it comes to text this tool is just a doddle to use just save it as a symbol and it is ready to use on any 3D view. See illustration, sorry about the size it is straight from the Help Files. You will have noticed I haven't stated if I would like to see it in Xara next version! Maybe yes but I would like to see other things sorted first. I am not going to state them here as I don't want to ruin a thread.

Never thought I'd have much use for the content-aware photo resize tool. However, it's proven to be highly useful in — of all things — several sets of web banners and online ads I've produced. Go figure.

The more I think about it the more I think that a 3D tool that creates a vector mesh would be a nice addition to Xara, how ever I don't think I'll hold my breath
