    Default bumpy 3d extrusions

Is it possible to produce 3d extrusions shapes in xara 3d 6 or wdp7 that can be 'pulled' ( moulded?) into various lumps bumps contours like the extrusions in this vector drawing of a vertebra?

If so any ideas how to start - my attempt looked awful using cylinder shapes

    cheers

    Which drawing would that be?

If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.

Not that I know of, but someone may come along and prove me wrong.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

You would need a true 3D application like Blender, Maya, Truespace, Cinema 4D, etc. to do that.

Xara 3D (xdp7, etc.) does not create a 3D mesh as the above mentioned application do. Xara 3D (xdp7, etc.) creates bitmapped extrusions that only give the illusion of being 3D.

    Hi Scruffy,

There is a free program called Sculptris© where object(s) "...can be 'pulled' ( moulded?) into various lumps bumps contours..." in 3D.
    http://www.pixologic.com/sculptris/
You can then save as an image (jpeg, png) or export as a photoshop .psd and bring it into Xara DP 6. It takes a little getting used to; probably best to watch the videos before you try it.

    Have fun!

Scruffy you have more than enough pc power for any of the apps mentioned in the previous posts.

I have used Blender and I have been able to use Xdp7 to create many resource materials which I have used successfully in Blender. vector shapes and curves can be exported from Xara as .svg and then imported into Blender and extruded to create 3d meshes within Blender.
