And a BIG thank you to Gary & Barbara Bouton for getting the new Xone up and running, it was a huge task in a short period of time, exhausting just to watch you! Gary Priester is of course a difficult act to follow but we at Xara are really looking forward to seeing what new things you've got up the sleeve.

Well, if people are using IE6, then they get all they deserve!

People who have described the new site as crap are just embarassing themselves. I can understand why some may not take to it, but it doesn't deserve such a description.

    Good job, Gare.

I just checked the site in Lynx and I'm afraid I can make heads or tails of it

But what's far more important is the content, and that's why people flocked to the Xone before and that's why people will continue to flock to the Xone now and in the future.

Content, ladies, that's where it's at.

I think we'll be okay in the long run with content. Audiences tell me that my biggest concern is knowing when to shut up.

Mosaic didn't test to well for a platform that would support the new Xara Xone, however, we did try this morning to see how it looks on the Jumbotron display in Times Square, and the resolution is 1 pixel per foot, and it looks pretty good.

The last hand-held we tested on, though, tended to have washed out colors but very strong horizontal and vertical lines.

Thumbs up Re: Houston, we have a Lift-Off

Here's my vote for AWESOME! The new site looks just great: lively and fun and easy to navigate. If a temporary loss of legacy linkage (say that three times fast after a couple of pints) is the only glitch in such a major move, WELL DONE!

The January 2012 Xara Xone has been up for a while and after giving it a thorough going over and kicking the tires (tyres) I can report that I like it very much.

Definately a change in artistic style and layout but comfortable to navigate and enjoyable to view. Gary's sense of humor is obviously present on every page and button design. His cast of characters provide a sense of wonder about what the Magician will provide as Tips & Tricks , or what the Call for Entries Announcer will be broadcasting via his microphone. The Gallery features Derek Cooper, long time TG member Masque, showing some of his artwork that pushes Xara Designer to an incredible level of fantasy and photorealistic illustration.

Being accustomed to written tutorials it was a pleasant surprise to watch Gary's video tutorial, and wonder how he managed the entire recording with only one inhalation. (just kidding).

I have not used the Live Effects to a large extent in my own work in the past. Having learned how they can be put to good use and how to avoid the dynamic overhead I can see they will become part of my repertoire.

Thanks Gary for taking on the mantle of the Xara Xone.

Gary, I think the image below would be a good case study for a tutorial. Lots of people will want to know how you realised that transformation!
