    Default Cropping

Hi everyone! How do you crop extraneous elements from your work with Xara? I've tried the advanced clip tool, but it doesn't do anything. Well, that I can see. Let me know the process if anyone can tell me. Thanks.

    Draw a rectangle.
Draw a smaller one and move it behind the bigger one.
Group select both and apply Clipview.
You will see that the rectangle changes to the size of the smaller one, which was placed behind.

In other words, you are cropping everything that is outside the size of the smaller rectangle.
Or what ever shape you draw and put behind all that is at the front.

Great! Thanks, the manual didn't really explain it that way. I'll give it a shot.

Can you post an example of what you are cropping? I would use different methods depending on what I am doing.

Have a look at the attached .xar file.
Might help explain a bit further!

Hello, folks! I merely pasted a white rectangle over the pasteboard to block out the offending elements. Worked fine. Basically, I am publishing a book cover and I needed to crop out extraneous objects outside of what we in America call the "bleed" area. Anyway, all was a success and the Pdf File looks great! I think I have an Adobe-killer here! I will show you my product after publish (and I promise not to spam). Every element in the file is Xara save for a few brushes in Photoshop. I can't believe how wonderful the illo looks! I have already uninstalled Indesign and Illustrator in favor of Xara. Soon, I hope to delete photoshop. Thanks for the help guys!

don't do this - photoshop is capable of lots of things xara isn't, just as xara can do things photshop can't - one day you may need them

I have never understood this idea that one program 'replaces' another - sure you might end up using one program most of the time, but no reason to 'cut off your nose to spite your face' as we say in the UK [I believe we say 'bleed' too ]
