    Smile About PLACEHOLDERS

Hi everyone, this is my first post in here. I have recently bought xara web designer 7 premium, and i must say i am very impressed with it. I have just tried my hands in making my own website.

But there is one thing that is bothering me.I am trying to put a click sound on my buttons when pressed.i have converted .WAV to .SWF. Could someone be kind enough to post a tutorial on how to do this. Any help is appreciated.

I have posted a screenshot with the post.

I am going heywire over this placeholder thing.

THANK YOU TO THE KIND SOUL.

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

You need some sort of script and to be honest, I am not sure if it will work as a placeholder.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I will respond with a how to do this. Though it is Christmas day and many folks are away from their computers.

    Please check back.

Not a problem. It gives Steve something to do.

I am hoping to get an answer to your question. Check back later today.

Sorry I haven't seen this thread earlier. I've had a chance to look at this and have a solution for you. I've done a little tutorial:

    http://xaradesigner.co.uk/click_sound

Please ask me any questions you want to. I hurried the tutorial a little bit so it's likely there might be a few errors, although I hope not. I hope you find it useful and that it doesn't confuse the hell out of you!

EDIT: great - it's not working in IE although it was earlier today. I'll try and look at that tomorrow. Probably a comma missing somewhere. Works fine in Firefox

That's really great Frank. It works great in Chrome too And here is a webpage (yes I know this is a flash resource site) that has a large collection of free sound effects and sound loops as .wav files, that could be handy for this. I think though that I would use sound effects sparingly, and keep the sounds soft.

It does work in IE... IE9. But not IE8. IE8 has really crappy HTML5 support (which should come as no surprise). I clearly have IE9 on the laptop but IE8 on the tower which is why I thought it was an error on my part. Anyway, to find out whether the browser you are using supports the <audio> tag, click here.

I agree whole-heartedly, frances - auto-playing sound is something a web designer should steer well clear of, although it always amazes me how many clients think this would be a "cool" thing to have on their website. I've always managed to steer them away from this, thank god
