    Default Miles M52

The Miles M52 was designed to do over 1000mph in the 40's. Cancelled in 1945 when the first one of three was over 80% complete. This plane would have been first to brake the sound barrier in 1946, with jet power, first afterburner, and first powered stabilator to allow supersonic flight. The pilot sat in the shock cone. The other interesting part of the story is how they were forced to hand over all their research data to Bell Aircraft when they were cancelled in 1945. If you get a chance read the story on this innovative craft.

    Outstanding.

I know I have asked this before but I retain so little (:eek) Do you do the landscapes as well as the aircraft?

The bits of history are always entertaining as well, if I could only remember it.

Your airplanes are always so fantastic Gray, I'd love to know more about how you construct the landscapes too! You get such magnificent depth!

Me too. I'm always interested to see how you do those.
Another magnificent job from the Master.

Great job Gray. I've watched some documetaries about this plane and the circumstances behind it's demise. It made me quite angry, but it made Chuck Yeagers day. Now you've got me thinking about the MRS2 and Rolls Royce engine exports to the USSR.

    Dash!

Absolutely outstanding Gray, as always, and to repeat most of the replies, how do you do those landscapes?

Thanks Gary, Frances, Wrigley, Larry. Paul, Stygg for taking a look.

Gary, the landscapes and sky are laid out and colour blocked in vector then finished off in raster. They take longer to do than the planes.

Frances, to give it some depth I add a layer the same colour as the horizon over the lanscape with a linear transparency. The more distant the object the bluer it is. The second plane I desaturate some of the colour, add a little transparency and blur because it is a greater distance from the viewer.

Great job once again Gray. The landscape is just beautiful, there is no one better. Cheers
