beret: Surely, you can't hate Illustrator, that much?!

Having said that, I have tried repeatedly to use Illustrator and find it very difficult.
That's why I keep using Xara.

    I'm not complaining about Illustrator.
I'm just saying that Xara is soooooo easy to use in comparison.

    May I add; that's a great drawing.

cheers steve - at last my talent is recognised (originality not being my strongpoint )

rik - i don't hate illustrator as much as hate what it stands for and hate why it has market dominance

mind you, it is a loathsome pig to use (the last copy i paid for was cs1 so i may be woefully out of date but if you can't bash illustrator, what can you bash?)

Nice drawing Frank. I'm in agreement about Illustrator and Adobe in general. It boggles my mind that so many people will pay nearly 2 grand (before taxes) CAD for CS when there are very good alternatives out there for most if not all of Adobe's offerings at much less the cost!

    all things are relative

in the corporate environment[s] that I am familiar with you would not get xara easily through the door, and its not because its thought of as a 'bad' program its because it does not have a corporate support program - its that simple
in a corporate environment the cost of adobe, with its support and with it being the de facto 'standard', is not much at all for the benefit it brings to the corporation
[Frank as the thread is headed Montgomery Burns... all this is sort of relevant ..... right? ]

CS5 photoshop I like; CS5 illustrator is better than xara for pressure sensitive freehand line art [which is not saying much as in xara you only have the model T ford option, given that the custom brushes in this regard are as much use as a chocolate fireguard] - if illustrator would only smarten up its screen rendering particularly when zooming out I would use it a lot more - its that simple
