Santa is too busy dealing with some disgruntled elves, but he had sent this to me previously:

Oh, I get it! "Whorl peas"? Do I win the Nobel Peas Prize for guessing correctly?

I'll PM you what I feel would suit you for a system, Rik.

No sense in letting this "Dear Santa" thread turn into an audiophile contest!

And if I could get world peace and an autographed Christina Hendricks poster, I won't hit on the jolly old fellow for several years to come, promise.

    Nahhhh.....

Firstly, thanks for posting your Dear Santa.

Now. My wife tells me that she has read about Duck Walks here in the UK.
    But...
    Ostrich Walk???

I would like not to derail my own thread but this 'Ostrich Walk' needs an explanation?!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origina...land_Jass_Band [first recordings - item3] - recordings of this are legion, but some very rare... I am not very materialistic but if I collect anything at all it's music

incidentally on the subject of [a modern] christmas I would recommend this: [I have no connection with EK, or Amazon] but maybe not for those with easily bruised sensibilities:

I recall that our Library of Congress has made available thousands of early recordings from the territory and time period you're fond of collecting, handrawn. I'll look for the link and get it to you.

No need to mince about with the objectionable qualities of folk music here: some of it was racist, borne out of insensitivity and ignorance. That's why a film classic "Birth of A Nation" is almost never screened in public in the States.

That said, the era produced some incredible music, and I hope some of it lands near your doorstep this Christmas!

    My Best,

    Gary
