Even though it is available through a whois look up, I have always seen personal info posted on message boards immediately removed by the moderators.

His name is right on the dogtag on his front page too.

will have to answer the "tsk, tsk".

A very brief search on The Fontman turned up this gem. Check out this post he made. The Fontman extols the Honor of the US Marines with great enthusiasm. I wonder if he should be regarded as an example of that honor. I sincerely hope not.

Ross, I just checked out the link you gave. This guy's a nut case.

What scares me is that he has, or could breed! I use the term breed, because that's what animals do.

Thanks to you and Gary, we now know exactly what we are dealing with.

I was hoping that when I went to look at the stuff the Fontman has posted on other forums, I would find out that he is a totally 2-dimensional scumball. That way I could have rested comfortably in this protected community of really nice, friendly, creative artistic people, and just forget the whole Fontman thing, and just ignore him whenever he rears his ugly head.

Unfortunately, my search at Google on "Fontman" came up with a bunch of completely appropriate input he has made to several forums, including the one Ross posted a link to above. Admittedly, this Fontman fellow appears to be a tad rough about the edges, and an enormous distance farther towards the political right than I hope ever to become (he would likely consider me to be a bit of a socialist pinko, like "Meathead" on All in the Family). However, his input on these other forums is completely in keeping with the forums' purposes.

In the case of the item to which Ross has posted a link, the board to which the Fontman posted is entitled "Flame Wars and Debates", and the Fontman's post appears to be in the nature of an example of a flame. The replies to his post are either positive, or are playing along with his flame humour. I offer here two other forums I found to which the Fontman has posted entirely appropriate material: here and here.

I must say that I am really not comfortable in the role of apologist for somebody like the Fontman over against the other great people I really like to spend time connecting with in this Xara forum. However, I think that it is vitally important that we learn how to treat all people with respect (which literally means "look again"). Otherwise not just this forum, but the world as a whole is in deep doo-doo.

I hope now to move on to lighter topics.

to The Fontman - it should be realized that the forum in which he made the above-linked posting is one about Flaming. That said, it still shows he has an interest in flaming. I don't know about the US Marines but in the Canadian Armed Forces a soldier would be likely be disciplined for his or her public conduct if they did a posting like that - even if in a forum about flaming.

You beat me to posting about the context of that Fontman posting.

I too found many totally appropriate fontman postings in other forums after posting the link above. The Fontman even acts as moderator in a few forums. That surprised me because it suggests when he has been disruptive here it may be intentional. Part of me (perhaps the idiot part) still wants to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And I have the utmost respect for what they do. Remember Iwo Jima, The Chosin Few and Khe Sanh. 'nuff said.
