Will import of PNG change its size?

Will import of PNG change its size as I notice that 1000px width image will be modified in different small image size.

I think this is true. Images over a certain width are automatically reduced.

But you can scale the image to any size. But the minimum dpi should not be less than 96dpi. With the image selected you can see the resolution (dpi) in the lower left of the screen.

All images will be published at 96dpi, no matter what the actual resolution.
