More alignment- a bug?

When I align two words, one of which is NOT in the dictionary, they will not align vertically correctly. It seems to me the program reads the dotted line indicating a misspelled word as an integral part of the object. Once I add the word to the dictionary and the dots disappear the words align correctly. Makes life difficult when dealing with many proper nouns.

I usually have the spelling turned off. So I turned it on. Seems to work here unless I am misunderstanding.
