Xara Designer 7 Pro Clipview Save Glitch

I tried attaching the file.

Basically, select all, apply clipview, then save. You should get the same error I get. Cancel the save, remove the clipview, save. It will ask for filename and preceded as though the original doesn't exist. Strange glitch. I just don't see why this occurs because I copy/pasted this file to Xtreme5 and it doesnt have a problem saving with clipview applied.

Also, I don't see why you're trying to apply clipview to something that doesn't seem to need it?
I must not have understood something.

You also don't mention what your error is?

I'm using XDP7.

Im on Win7, and have also just tried it with Vers6 and I get an error window with just the error icon, no text. The Vers7 just says error saving, document was not saved' or something like that. No specifics at all.

As for clipping, its just procdure - it isn't always necessary but I clip it to a transparent square for exact dimensions to export as PNG so it centers where I need it to within the square, not cropped to the edge of graphic.

This glitch has been plaguing me for the past month I'd say, but with much more complex work. This is the simplest thing I have recently made that still triggers the error.

Here's what it looks like, since I know you feel like you're missing out. haha

I tracked it down to part of a file I was re-using from an older project. So often, I just throw things together, and group and clip and crop and erase and clone and all sorts of junk and eventually something glitches.

I'll post some work one of these days. Its a unique sort of project I got into recently...

I checked your file and I did get the error, and upon having a look at the page and layer gallery your file appears to have a mask layer and an empty layer that aren't needed, delete them and it works fine.

You're totally my hero! I never learned how to trouble shoot a project for conflicts but now I see - the gallery has all the contents and conflicts are easier to locate

Page and Layer gallery are truly your friend. Once I started using that, I figured out a lot of things I was doing wrong.....and there were a lot.
