    Cheers John
Yes the map took more than one night to create.

The worst part was creating the text files, containing each road. Each of these needs 2 co-ordinates for the small scale map and 2 for the large scale map.

    Example:
    streets=
    Ferndale Rd;867;156;-4970;-760:
    Fernlea Rd;861;170;-4890;-920:
    First Ave;793;275;-4170;-2000:
    Fronks Rd *;719;301;-3470;-2260:
    Foster Rd;580;150;-1990;-680:
    Fallowfield Cl;621;258;-2410;-1820:
    Frobisher Rd;614;389;-2350;-3180
    &selected=F
    &EOF=EOF
However, now it's finished, it's quite easy to add a new road/roads, and just as simple to ammend the road text files, which Flash places into an array and lists alphebeticaly.

I think I will get me a newer version of flash if I do another map in flash... the key is the time consuming pain in the tail part. I have to agree!

    Egg,

This is wandering off-topic (even further!) but I would manage that data in a local database and generate the text files (or use XML for Flash to import).

I think Grafixman got us a little off topic here. What was the topic to begin with?

Here's a recent image I did using SketchUp and Xara. The imaginary building was modeled in SketchUp. The texture on the walls, glass and trees was created in xara. A jpg was exported from SketchUp and was imported into Xara for post processing like adding the wrinkles and the frame.

Here's a blackprint variation. Here's a hazy sepia-toned version. All of these were just done for fun.

    Regards, Ross

    Ross

That images is great just downloading a trial version of SketchUp it looks really interesting from the video I've seen on the website. I'd me interested to see what it can out up and input in terms of file format - it looks really easy to use.
