    Default Halloween effects

It's getting to be that time of year again, so let's share some gruesome ghastly Halloween effects! Be it blood stains and splatters, slimey monsters, fearsome text effects etc. Post an image and tell us a bit about how you did it, that way we can all learn from each other! let your imagination loose!

My first contribution to start things of is a ghostly photo manipulation. It was done with two photos one of myself, and one the empty room behind me. I cut myself out of the background of the top photo and used the liquid colour filter to mess with my face and hair (I had my husband nearly choking with laughter at this part!) to get the ghostly effect I applied a glow shadow then used the colour> negative filter, and made it semi transparent. The empty room photo I simply darkened and blurred. The text was also manipulated with the same method but with out the negative effect.

That's different. I mean that in a nice way!
I'm not going to get a chance to do things for a while but wanted to say, "Well done Frances."

    Dripping blood lettering.
I did this with Xara Xtreme and eye candy 4000.
Start with a font of your choice, big is better, like 72pt.
X the fill so you only have the outline of the lettering.
Increase the line width to around 4pt.
open live effects, eyecandy, apply a swirl effect to the lettering to smear the outline a bit.
Right click on the color pallette (red) to change the outline to red.
Left click the color pallette (black) to fill the lettering.
open live effects and apply a drip effect so nice long drips of blood ooze down from the lettering.

    Happy Halloween.

Thanks Rik. I hope you will be able to participate when you have time.

That looks really good Mike, I like how the smearing looks.

Here is a ghostly text effect to perhaps scare up some more participation in this thread!

Nothing completely artistic, my usual textual use in my maps and illustrations... just to participate... (I snuck in a photo of a skull just for effect)

Wow... Gory... Ghastly... Well drawn... Clever... Not sure whether it's nice, but, that's a matter of taste and if it's appropriate for what it's needed for.

    Good job though.

What method was used to draw the blood spatter? I'm looking for something slightly more convenient than my current method, which is to look up "blood spatter" on a Google image search, find a pattern that fits what I want, and import that and manually trace over it. The end result looks great, but it's a bit time consuming (especially for patterns with lots of drops).
