    Default Happy Birthday Card 2013

    Thanks, Frank!

I didn't model the hi-top sneaker, although I should have. I saw it online for free download and the polygons were a total mess, resolution way too high, eyelets and laces not lined up, and so on. My friend Stu helped me straighten out the geometry, and from there I thought it would make a funky vase, so I got onto completing the scene with textures, lighting and camera angle.

    Default Drawing compared to modeling

I originally conceived of this Retro "boombox" in three dimensions; I modeled and rendered it, but it seems cold and stark, so I drew it later on.

I like the drawing much better than the 3d rendering. The drawing has warmth and looks inviting.

Thanks, Frances. I had a design in my head, and couldn't decide on the best tools to envision it.

The drawing is 85% Xara and then I used Creature House Expression to add some details such as the clouds and soft highlights.

I think the drawing took just as long as the modeling did!

This isn't a model. I used Photoshop and the KPT Fractal 4D filter, and then some painting:

    Image 206 looks goooooood Gare.
I like the rubber ducky too. That reminds me of the one I had bought for my Dad just for fun. He kept it for years.

They're making a comeback, Larry. I saw several different colors at K Mart this summer, and it provoked some interest and artwork.
