.ai vector file won't open

Nah, the AI filters in XDP are too old.

However, UniConverter changed it from its AI format to PDF just fine. Uni also hasn't been updated for AI files ina while--but obviously they are newer than XDP.

FWIW, InkScape cannot open that AI version.

I see references at various places in the text for AI5 and AI6.

XDP7 gets the outline but not the fill for the many objects from the .ai file. After the No Filters message and the progress indicator switch to Outline View Quality.

I had no trouble importing it after renaming the file type. As Rich stated in a previous thread always try and use note pad to see how the file was named and what version it was exported as. The drawing itself was very large so I made it so that it fitted an A4 sheeet. If you are going to use Vector Magic always always use PDF unless there are loads of text then if it doesn't convert the text to shapes use EPS that's the only time I would use EPS.

If I drag the pdf you provided in an existing document and it works.

However if I use file/open the graphic display jams, everything appears to work but the render screen is white. If I save the file with the display problem, then close xara and reopen the file it works

I have experienced these kinds of problem with some pdf before, maybe it should be reported as a bug ?

I tried dragging the pdf into an existing document and I still get "no filters found...". I use X1, btw.

Xara X¹ does not have a pdf import filter.
