External Links in Text

I'm placing external links in my text.
They appear to be there in design mode, but are not colored or active when I view in the browser.
What's up??
The tabs across the top of the webpage work when I drop in a URL as a target

Check the text links and make sure the text is in fact linked.

Also bring the text to the front (Ctrl F). Sometimes you can have a rectangle with not flll or outline in front of the text and if so it can keep the links from working.
