Xara Xtreme 4 Problem

Havent figured out where this should be posted so here goes. I'm using Xara Xtreme 4 and suddenly cannot get the freehand tool nor the pen tool to work. Can't remember when last time I did use them. I'm using Vista Home Premium on a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6147 Laptop. Havebeen using Xara Xtreme about three years.

Freehand tool is working, pen tool is not. For example open Xara Xtreme ( actually ver. 5)--get blank page, create a shape, black filled circle. try to cut it with a line using pen tool,--nothing happens--no line. Have noted there is no info Bar displayed when pen tool is selected. Seems I must have inadvertantly made some setting that scrubs the pen tool but I can't find what it might be.

Have you tried reinstalling Xtreme? That might help.
