Interesting idea.
Though you have posted in the Xara Web Design forum where Xara WD and Xara Designer software already has guides and rulers built into the application.
In Xara, you can snap objects to guides for even better positioning.
Version 7 also has Magic snapping object alignment guides which once you use them, you'd never go back

Yes, i know. My software put this guides in desktop, for applications that does not have this funcionability, and you can grab images easily, process. etc. As i said, it's useful for me, mainly to measure pixels on screen. Cheers
