    Default google web fonts

Hi, I don't know if this has been covered, I came across googlewebfonts. So I thought I would try them out in xara. I have attached a zip webfile with the fonts I used and also attached an image of what the page should look like. I wanted to see if anyone had trouble seeing the fonts within their browser....thanks tao

    Hi Tao

I've been wondering about web fonts, in general. I've loaded the Byron Bay page. Looks good, although it was a little slow to load. The TaoJones page still hasn't come up. Perhaps you're working on it.

Hey Roger - Been a while.

I am not sure if these work the way other web fonts do, but my understanding is the fonts reside on Google's servers and are downloaded semi-instantly to the visitor's browser when they visit your page.

Both look good to me. The http://taojonesphotographer.com/ loaded slow but that too looked good on my monitor. I'm using opera 11.5

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

Larry I think TJ wanted you to check the link in his post, rather than his signature which don't have any google web fonts or are even xara made web sites.

Hi Gary, yep been a while put I always check-in, always good to do your tutorials. I have just put a index file up with only the google fonts on it and a couple of my pics, seems to work well and load fast this end but I have the fonts on my machine. If you could check it out for me to see if there is any potential drawbacks from using these fonts it would be much appreciated. I think it would be good to have the ability to use some different fonts than the standard.....thanks roger

Hi Roger on first visit the page takes about 5 or 6 seconds to load on my 12MB dsl. Subsequent visits are much faster because of the caché.

Excellent photos, I especially like the one of BB King. I've been a fan of BB King for ages.

The test page came up really fast for me.

And I agree with Bill about the picture of BB King, although I like the other one, too. Good stuff.

The pages display fine here aswell but each font used obviously adds to the load time. If you were using them for real I guess you'd limit use to 1 or 2 web fonts on a page, even then you'd have to consider is it worth the extra page load time.
