xara 7.0 program doesn't appear on launch ....HELP

I've just upgraded and installed Designer Pro 7 on a windows 7 64 bit laptop but when I launch the program it appears to start(I get a spinning disk) then fails to appear. No splash screen, error message or interface...and in task manager it shows designer pro as using 1 core of the cpu (25%). I installed DesignerPro with no virus checkers turned off and I'm running it as administrator but no luck.
Has anybody had this problem and how did you fix it? Help

Try this. Right click on the program icon and select Run as Administrator. This sometimes cures a variety of ills.

Thanks but that didn't work, either with the right click or with setting it in the properties... funny thing is that the trial of designer standard worked..
Any other ideas?

Try this on Win 7. Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall or change a program. Select 'Xara Designer Pro 7', click 'Uninstall/Change' and select the 'Repair' option in the Xara Repair/Remove screen.

Perhaps you blocked the program via your firewall.

If you did then check your blocked program list and allow it.

Try adding DesignerPro.exe to your Data Execution Prevention (DEP) exception list.

Try a program like ProcessActivity from Nirsoft.com it should be able to tell you what is happening or uninstall and re-install - prefereably with a new download and reboot between. I had a similar problem with another program and it turned out to be a program called camerafix.exe in the windows directory which got installed with a digital microscope.
