When saving a file in DP7 I get the error message:
Unable to register document
The document may already be open
No other version is open at the time. Any ideas?
Closed all documents, reloaded DP7.
Thanks

I have no idea what could have caused this, but I know I hate stuff like that when it happens.
There are so many lines of code in any program today and there is never time to properly check the entire program for conflicts so problems like this, though very few, do occur.
If the file has become corrupt, you can probably open a backup and not lose all your work. File > Open Recent > Backups... Change your View settings to Details and find the most recent backup and try that one, or the one before.

Yeah it's a pain, but luckily it still seems to save the document. Thanks for the reply.
I've been getting the same error message. It's happened several times when I'm trying to save a document I'm working on. It scares me because it's happened at the end of a work session and I'm not sure if I'm going to lose everything when I close the program. I did this search here hoping to find out what's going on. I've tried getting a backup and it's had the same result.
There are only two obvious causes for this error that I can think of. One is that there is another copy of DP7 still running because it failed to quit cleanly at some point. Look in Task Manager to see if there is a DesignerPro.exe running and if there is then "End Process" it. The other possiblity is that virus/malware protection on your machine is interfering with DP7 and stopping it from regsitering the document with the OS (this is done so that DP documents can be OLE embedded in other applications).

It seems to only do it on one particular file. I can have several open at once and they all save fine.
If you have a file that always behaves this way even after a restart of your computer then can you please open a support ticket and send it to us (or if it isn't private and/or too big then can you attach it here) so we can see if the problem is reproducible?
Gerry
Reboot seems to have resolved the issue Thanks Gerry
