Uploads time out

I have DP7, Win 7, 64-bit, INtel core i7, 8GB ram.
My website file size is about 16Mb. I have several podcast files and pdf's and photos that total about 700Mb. DP7 has been working fine, doing incremental uploads as I make changes.

I'm not sure what I did but the program lost the incremental upload record and it wants to upload the entire file. My problem is that I get an error message from PD7 that says "The operation timed out." This has happened anywhere between 10% and 30% into the upload. Very frustrating. I click the mouse every 20 minutes or so to keep the computer awake but it does no good. I unclicked the option to do incremental update hoping to re-upload the entire site and start over. No good.

What is timing out? Is there an option to prevent it? Thanks, Peter

ShapeShifter, thanks for reply. I use Filezilla to move some files.
I'm not sure how to use it instead of the PD7 upload. Which files to I move?

Transfer all of the site files.
16Mb total shouldn't take long at all.
