What was the purpose of this or did I miss something.

That is interesting, considering if you look at the source none of the keywords have the phrase or words "miserable failure" also if you do a word search the neither the word Miserable or failure appear in the article.

I deleted the specific page address so I only went to http://www.whitehouse.gov/ and it sure looks like the official site.

Looks to me that the site has been attacked by an anti-Bush nerd.

It seems the persons who came up with this used a technique called Google bombing. Hundreds of people included text links on their websites with the text reading "miserable failure" and the link linking to the White House website.

Google sees the large number of linked text and associates the text with the linked site.
