I have a psd file that apparently has an unsupported color scheme (not rgb or hex) for WD7. How can I open and work with this file? Its 3MB and I want to create a smaller web friendly image that fits my site header area.

If the file is in CMYK as you surmise and WD7 cannot import it (I know DP6 will import a typical CMYK PSD file), you can always download the trial version of PhotoShop. Either the full PS or Elements will open it. PhotoShop Elements will want to convert it to RGB which you would need to do anyway. The editor of choice for me is PhotoLine and it handles CMYK PSD files quite well and converts them wonderfully if needed.
All that said, it may also be due to the layers in the PSD file. I don't have WD7, so I cannot try it. But if you would like to email it to me (assuming even ZIP'd it is too large to post here) I would be glad to convert it for you.

Mike - thanks for doing the conversions. The psd you produced for me opens in XXPro and resizes gracefully!
