Default WYSIWYG Issue with Font sizes.

    Hello everyone,

My first post here - an interesting one to start of with!

I have encountered a peculiar and simply maddening phenomenon whereby when text is cut & pasted between XWD7P & MS_WORD the following happens :

    1) Arial 14px in Web Designer appears as Arial 10.5px in MS-WORD, while
    2) Arial 14px in MS-WORD appears as Arial 18.67px in Web Designer and
    3) Arial 10.5px in MS-WORD appears as Arial 14px in Web Designer.

It is important that I have consistency between the two.

    Why is this happening?
What can be done to overcome this anomaly?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I didn't expect to answer my own post!
However XARA support were super quick and responded almost immediately, here is what they said:

"A document in Web Designer displays its units in pixels as this is the standard unit used for web documents. Word displays its units in points.

    1px = 0.75 pt

So if you have a string of text which its font size attribute set to 14px. Then 14px converted to points is 10.5 points"

I guess I shall have to manually take care of reformatting text between XWD7P & WORD. At least I know why & what to do about it.

    Good one XARA!

This is how it ought to be, actually.

When I design for the web, I do not use any formatting attributes from whatever the text was originally written in. In fact, to rid myself of any formatting, I always copy from the source document (whether from Word or another processor) and paste into a text editor. Then copy and paste into whatever I am making the site in. All styling is done in the web building application.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Best regards, Mike
