Can't download Xara Designer Pro 7 or Xara Photo & Graphic

I have tried three times today to download both Xara Designer Pro 7 and Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 7 from both the US and English web pages. In all cases, all I get is a small 3.5 mb file. When I click on the file, i get a spinning astrix that spins for 5 minutes then times out.

I was going to buy Xara Designer Pro 7 upgrade tonight, but since this happened, I'm holding off till I know that the software works on my system

System specs: Win 7 Home Premium, 8 gb ram, ATI Radeon 3750 512 mb ram.

Hi,

The 3.5M file is a downloader/installer that pulls the main program down onto your machine. It seems to get stuck occasionally. To fix this look in your Documents folder, and in there look inside a folder called "MAGIX Downloads". Delete anything you find in there and then try again.

From your system spec I'd strongly advise that you install more RAM. Not that Pro 7 particularly needs it but Windows 7 itself and all your other programs will perform much better if you can upgrade to, say, 2G.

I think Phil mis-read the spec

even so an upgrade of the graphics card would also likely help win 7 run better, though not have any bearing on your download problem - the important thing I think is that the program installer is downloaded to the folder he specified, this is a change from previous versions - once this is downloaded successfully you can use this to manually install as before

Hi,

I had the same problem, but the install wasn't as stuck as it appeared. I found this out when I abandoned my PC when it was reporting 0% progress after about twenty minutes. I forgot about everything, went and had a meal, stacked the dishwasher, and then found the program asking me to click to install the download. So I think that things are working, but slowly. I have a VERY slow connection, by the way. So if it can get to me, it can get to anyone.

BTW the new features make it impossible NOT to upgrade
