Thumbs up Re: Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

I'll say it turned out pretty well. It looks really excellent John. I can never get over how much drawing it takes and how much patience as well.

    I didn't join till middle of 2009.

So, I take it that those who've been here for many years know you to be someone who understates things, a bit?!

    Looks damn good to me.

Hi Gary, It only took me 6 hours tomake, 3 hours 2 days in a row. It looks like alot of work, but thats the great thing about Xara. I started of with the base shape of the car, and copied that shape alot and use transparent on top/sides and bottom while altering the colour of the base shape and just over laying those.
Most work was on the wheels, did those last as they would be hardest for me to do.

Hi Rik, guess your right I do tend to understates things when it comes to drawing with Xara, but as I said in my coment to Gary, I did the drawing in 2 days and yes it may look really good, but I'm sure most if not all of the people here can do it with a little practice, i'll see if I have some time tomorrow to show alittle of the (tricks)ways I use to get the effect seen on the Alfa Romeo.

Also I still consider my self a hobby artist, after my scribble the other day, I just had to try the car and it went so well that I just kept going.
Below is a image where I changed the base colour to show some of the shading effects, and put some transparent items around the car to show them better.

    Here's my quick Shade lesson.

I left the lines on to better show the images 1 to 6 and put them next to eachother, normally they would be on top of eachother.

I start off with my base object(in this case the car body)(1) I give it the colour I want then Imake a copy and copy it over the previous (1).
Then I change it to a lighter colour and put a downward transparentcy on it (2),I make another copy of my baseobject(1)for the back of the car, and depending on where the light is comin from I make it darker or lighter, in this case darker(3)and put a transparentcy on it. At the front of the car I also wanted it to be a bit lighter(4)and put a downward transparentcy on it, then for the last 2 parts I wanted the shade comin up from the ground, see 5 and 6,and put a upward transparentcy on them, if you combine them all and turn off line visibility 7 will be the end result.
