    Default Lost Effect

I just upgraded to 7 and now in the animation picker RippleC is no longer there (and maybe some others could be missing)

    Hi Bob,

RippleC is still in Xara 3D Maker 7 on my system.

When you installed did you do it with an Administrator account?

    Hi
I'm traveling and only have my netbook. So I didn't have P&G or 3D installed on this computer. I was able to download P&G but couldn't find 3D 6 so I just went ahead and upgraded to 3D 7. So now that I think about it since I don't have the files from 3D 6 then 7 has nothing to draw from. I thought (wrongly of course) that 7 didn't need any files from 6. so it appears that I need to load 6 in. If I can find it on the XARA site.
Luckily your reply fired up some brain cells (I have so few to work with).
    thank

Bob 3D 7 does not draw on any of 3D 6. Both applications install to different folders and only include the files that come with that specific version.

With 3D 7 you must download the templates. Help menu > Download templates. This includes the animation types.

    Two Questions...

    1. This is the same as Help > Download content ???

    2. Is there any menu or obvious display changes that signal to the end-user that the Content Pack is available for use?

I ask that as the Download Content, about 18MB's or so, does not seem to alter the menu structure or the display, even after restarting 3D Maker 7.

Also the Help .CHM file does not mention anything about the material, either -- unless it's topic is named differently in the Help file.

    Hi JR,

Yes I mistyped... it should be Download content.

The answer to your second question is no. There are no changes to the menus, only to the content shown in the Animation Picker and the Style Picker dialogs.

    Thank you.

JUST after I left my original message, I noticed that the Animation Picker was indeed newly populated, so yes, that seems a fairly convenient way to be sure that one has downloaded the very impressive material that's in the "Download Content" file.

Xara 3D 7 is a pretty impressive all-around package. I do see some user comments RE: object transparency and uses of same in video work, yet it is a very useful product indeed.
