    Default Waterfall Effect

I read the post by Bob in the Off-Topic forum about how there have been more web design posts than graphics recently. So I figured I'd post something here as I don't post much artwork.

A long while ago there was a challenge thread about creating the effect of a waterfall over marble. The attached image is along those lines and is something I tinker with every now and then.

I don't have access to my source files at present so apologise if the image is a bit on the small size, for those using higher screen resolutions.

    Regards

    Su

    Thanks Merv appreciate your feedback.

I found the url of the original waterfall thread challenge: Technique for Flowing Water (started by John Clements back in 2001).

Absolutely stunning, Su. I like the rainbow too, it adds a nice finishing touch. Thanks for the link to the challenge as well.
    Saludos,
    Bob.

Thanks Bob, glad you liked it.

Adding the rainbow was my other half's idea actually, but luckily I had already experimented with a rainbow effect previously.

PS: Ah yes talking about links, here's one to your thread 'Talk Web' in the Off-Topic forum (which I mentioned in my original post but forgot to add a link to - sorry).

    Hi Su.

The water ripples look too big, to me, compared to the waterfall itself.

    Just my opinion and observation.

Though the whole picture is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Rik, gray, Soquili and Gary for your comments, appreciate it.

Rik: About the ripples, I thought I would check some out to be sure. I didn't really use any photographic reference for the waterfall itself, so I had a look in Google Images and found that the water in front of even a low waterfall can be quite choppy. I might even them out a little bit though. However, I do have more spray than I really should for the size of the fall; but I needed extra to 'justify' having a rainbow ... so that's just a bit of artistic license if you like.

    Thanks again.

    Regards

    Su
