    Default Importing resolution difference

    Hi,

I bought a photo stock, in photoshop it imports at 300 dpi at 6x9"
but when i import to xara, it shows up as 96dpi at 13x20"

Is there a way I can have the measurements like that of photoshop when
    importing into xara?

    Why does this happen?

I even setup the settings to import as dpi specified in the image file, and still get 13x20" at 96 dpi

Select Utilities/Options/View and (under "Bitmaps") check "Import at dpi specified in the image file" or set another dpi value.

    Hi behzad

I've just tried importing a variety of stock photos I've licensed over the years. My bitmap import Option is set to "Import at dpi specified in the image file". From what you said in your post, you have it set the same way.

It looks as if the controlling factor is how the file was saved by the artist. Some of the files I imported came in at 300 dpi and displayed with the dimensions I expected (eg, 4" by 6"). Others came in at 96dpi. Some came in at 240dpi or some other resolution. I don't have Photoshop, so I can't compare its behavior.

I bought it at dreamstime.com Apparently it is a jpg, photoshop recognizes it as 300 dpi, but xara does not.
i should try exporting from photoshop as psd like you suggested. Let me try and report back. Yes, good idea, it did work after exporting from photoshop as PSD.
    Thanks so much.

for some reason, maybe to do with the way information is stored in the file or assumptions made by some programs about intended use, this sort of thing sometimes happens

    glad you got it sorted
