    WD6 Guestbook novice questions....

    Hi all,

In this thread from 2009 - http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...ight=guestbook there is a good example of the type of utility I would like to add to my site.

My problem is that I'm pretty new at this stuff and don't understand how exactly this works. IS this all held within my own site or is the book held externally and I'd just be linking to it? I understand I would need to add a placeholder but other than that I'm lost. I could really use an idiot guide for something like this - does anyone have a good link that maybe would help me on my path please?

    Thanks in advance.

The suggestion in the thread to which you linked, is to create a placeholder which is just a rectangle really that will represent the size of the Guest Book. Then copy the script that enables the Guest Book, open the Website Properties > Placeholder section and Paste the script into the Replace with HTML Code window. The actual placeholder rectangle is invisible when you preview the page and is replaced by the guest book.

OK I just looked in the Designs Gallery and I do not see any Guest Book widgets. But I did a quick Google search for Guest Book Scripts and came up with this http://www.smartguestbook.com/ It is Free (but of course nothing is really free). You design your guest book, generate the HTML script and then paste this script into your placeholder.

Thanks very much for taking the time to explain - I'll check that out and see what I can come up with.
