Default "Save as" xar extension file

I am about 15% up the Web Designer 6 learning curve but an experienced use of Corel Draw suites for a good many years. Xara has remarkably good tools for creating graphics such as personal styled buttons. I have taken to that process like a duck to water but I am blowed if I can find out how to save one of my masterpieces as a .xar file so that I can store it in the buttons folder for selection whenever I have a need to incorporate it into a new web page.

    Hep please!

    Hi

    file > export

there should be an option to export as 'Xara Web Designer [*.xar]' which is probably what you need

Splendid! Just what I needed. Next question - How do I using the curve edit tool add editable nodes to for example a square so as to draw it out into a modified, irregular shape? In Corel Draw I just click on the line and right click for "add node" but that doesn't seem to work in Xara WD 6.

The vector drawing facilities in Xara WD 6 are first class I must say.

    Ah - that's another question

if you wish to do that sort of drawing you might be better off looking at Designer Pro 6, which includes all of the Web Designer 6 features [AFAIK] and has full drawing tools as well - the drawing tools in Web Designer are restricted

in Designer Pro 6 you would first convert your square to editable shape in order to add/remove nodes, but that option is not available in Web Designer 6

[you could also do it in Photo and Graphic designer 6 - but I am not sure that has all the features of Web Designer 6]

Far be it from me to contradict a mod but, in the spirit of Saturnalia (not long past), in WD6 you can convert to shapes by pressing Ctrl+1 (or Add Shapes from Arrange>>Combine Shapes). Also, P&GD6 has NONE of the new web designer 6 features, it only has web designer 5 features

my pleasure John - mods are not any wiser than any other member as all the wise mods know

my knowledge of Web Designer is basic - I don't use it work-wise at all

thanks for the tip and the clarification

The "export" options in Web Designer 6 are shown in attachment 1.

The Drawing tools for Web Designer 6 are shown in attachment 2.

The Drawing tools for Xarar Designer Pro 6 are shown in attachment 3.

The Web Designer application is a subset of the Xara flagship application.

Thanks to you all for that. I have now got the hang of exporting to xar and using the shaping tools.
