    Default Magix stuff

    1. Within TG there are Adobe and CorelDraw forums which are mostly empty of new content. Isn't it time somebody added some Magix forums?
    2. An email from Xara announced "MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus: Special Discount Offer for Xara Customers. Now available for only £49.99 instead of £79.99". So how come when I try to buy it, it takes me to the Xara shop and it says £59.99? Or is that another product?

    Answers on a postcard please.

    Happy 2011

    Hi Beret.

I could bore you with the screenshots of what happened when I clicked on the link from the e-mail that was sent to me.

But when I go through the process, I get a price of £49.99 as advertised.
I didn't go right to the checkout but as far as I went, it said £49.99.

It clearly doesn't like me cos I have tried it in IE and FF and I get as far as "enter your credit card details here" and there is no reduction code or discount for existing customer shown anywhere. The price is £59.99 at checkout. And, yes, I make sure I am logged in when I click on the link in the email.

Anybody in Xara Towers want to help me out here?

I don't know Magix products, but looking at that and their website I think the first image should say HD not Plus at the end.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

I think you're going to the EURO page, that is €59.99. This is the page you need:
    http://www.xara.com/uk/magix/movieeditpro
    where you should get £49.99

    Hi Kate and Anthony

You're right, because I'm in Euroland the link in the email forwards me automatically to the Euro page where the product is not £59.99 but €59.99. That's my fault for not looking closely enough at the money symbol. But both pages are in English...

I'm off to buy it at £49.99 now

Hee. Clearly I did the same thing. Sometimes the most obvious things pass us by!

Here's another thing that increasingly annoys me with today's software!

Mind you, part of my job (for which people pay me obscene amounts of money) includes the removal of viruses, spyware, adware and other crapware from PCs, so maybe I should not get angry and instead encourage the spread of browser bars..

Tell me about it! I reinstalled Windows last week, and it really struck me how pretty much all software is infected with this sort of thing now. And with some of the freebie apps you have to be *really* careful as they try to change multiple things.

Generally this is when at work I'd get people asking me for help as they all have manner of things installed, and they didn't realise what they agreed to.

Still if it gives me free/cheap software, I don't resent it. But you have to have your wits about you.
