Question Feathering disappears in new brush

    Hi,

I created a few shapes, and applied a feathering to two of these. I then grouped all the shapes and created a new brush from this group.
    The feathering has disappeared.
Does anybody have a clue what I've done wrong or how I can get around this problem ?

    ps. I'm using Designer Pro 6 on Windows 7 - 64bit

    Hi Guke,
You donīt did any thing wrong here, feathering donīt work with brushes in XDP6 or any other version of Xara. Instead of using feather region, use the transparency tool. that is better.
Transparency is your friend when you want to create brush in XDP6.
    Hope that help you.

    Welcome to TalkGraphics guyke

You can create a bitmap, True Color + Alpha and use the bitmap for your brush and the bitmap will retain feathering and transparency.

Once you create the brush, with the Freehand and Brush Tool selected, select Edit Brush > Fill Properties and un-check Tile Fills.

Black Panther is right; feathering is not retained when the object is made into a brush. There are workarounds involving using bitmaps, and I've covered this in a written tutorial on brushes (due for an update when I get a minute). It's on my Xara website (click on the printable version button and select a format to download).

Apologies Gary if my post upset you. If you look at the time index you will see there is a 1 minute difference. When I originally replied, your post was not visible to me.
