Default LOTS of problems, need serious help, please!

    Ok, here it is:
    1) I try to open my created page - nothing comes up.

    2) How and where in the world do I link an e-mail addy to the e-mail.
Can't find it for my life - does not work iwith the link-button: mailto:me@verizoncom
(this is NOT a real e-mail address) Or do I have to type something else?

    3) I try to link a simple word to a page - like: 'schedules' to a 'schedules.htm' page.
it does not work (in link button) No link there when it's uploaded.

    4) IF it's uploaded. I have serious problems with 'exporting' and uploading.
Sometimes it works and then it doesn't take it anymore.
The path is right (hopefully), the destination is correct - surely.

In 'Export Webpage' do I have to choose Xara.web? .htm? .xar? Nothing works correctly.
Sometimes I'm lucky that it uploads, mostly not.

    5) Corrected something on an index page, uploaded, (happt it took it) it's scrambled.
Next time I use the exact path - upload, no changes. It didn't get through.

I'm desperate here - PLEASE, maybe I can call somebody to walk me through?

    Web URL 1: www.busstopband.net
    Web URL 2: www.u2lights.com

Thanks to whom ever is 'taking me on' !

    Welcome to TalkGraphics Johanna

    1. How are you trying to open your created page? In Web Designer? On the web? Please explain.

    2. Select some text, the actual e-mail address is not advised because it may get the address on spam lists. So, select something like: Send e-mail. Highlight the text, press the Link icon on the Infobar at the top of the screen, and key in the e-mail address. Web Designer will add the mailto: automatically if you have checked Correct Automatically.

    3. Select the text, press the Link icon, select the page from the Link to a Page drop down list.

    4. When you export and publish your website, save it as index.htm or index.html

    5. How did you correct something on the index page? Did you edit the HTML text. This is not advised, even if you know what you are doing because the next time you change and publish the page your HTML edits will be lost. Unless you use a placeholder.

    1) yes I want to open in Xara Web Designer to work on it - nothing comes up, glitch?

    2) aaah!! NO mailto: ok, and right, no e-mail addy on the page.

    3) drop down list: none coming up! - ??? I probably have saved something wrong or not enough...??
I usually type in 'schedule.htm' (without ' ) Kinda wrong?
    I'm using Web Designer 5

    4) yes, I did all that - I tried EVERYTHING - LOL
I guess my problem is the correct 'export'

    5) no, I just make changes (constantly) on the page, not in HTML, although I am searching for the HTML page;
can't find the button to open it. (I kinda know what I'm doing in HTML)

    6) And I guess one needs to open it anyway to include <script>xxx.js</script> - or where should that go?

Alrighty, thank you so much - FINALLY I found help and quick too!
You can't IMAGINE how long and how much I'm [U]searching[U] here.

    Thank you, thank you.

Web Designer cannot open .htm / .html files to edit them.
Save your work as the native *.web for future editing.

You won't find any such button, so you can stop looking
Web Designer or Designer Pro 6 are not HTML editors. There is no HTML to view until after you export it (to HTML).

To add your script, create a placeholder object (small rectangle) - right-click it and choose 'Names'. Name it <HEAD>
Then open Web Properties>>Placeholder and in the Replace with HTML code area, add your <script>xxx.js</script>

    Hi sledger,
thank you for your reply, you answered me before

I appreciate you taking time for me.

    1) <<cannot open .htm / .html files to edit them>> yeah, but the page doesn't come up either.
Black hole, but that might be a glitch - I'll see.

    2) << <HEAD>Then open Web Properties Placeholder >> I would NEVER have figured this one out - thank you

    3) as for the links - no drop down menu (maybe in Designer 6?? I have 5)
Is it correct to just type 'schedules.html' ?

I've tried it all - nothing works correctly.

Exporting: I go to Tool Bar 'Export Website' Button - THEN I upload what I have in front of me -
    surely something is missing there.

I'm a creative soul not a 'path' - internet geek. I'm so sorry but I fear I have to bother you even more in the future.

    Thanks again for your time

    Johanna

In WD, you select to 'Publish' your site (File>>Publish Website) - make sure you have the exact and correct host details provided by your hosting service.

DUUUH!! Yes, this is the dropdown menu - but my pages are not in there.
As said, I must do something wrong with the saving ...

Yes, 'publish' is correct. Exact and correct host is provided. I know THAT much - LOL

I had an FTP uploader before, worked without any glitches for years - but that thing doesn't work with my current program AND it's on a second PC tower both going into one monitor via router.

Besides, I'm German and this tech stuff and then in ENGLISH is Chinese backwards to me.

    Thanks again

    SCREAM!

    ok,

I have made links that should go to the old web that's not upgraded yet.
But this is not relevant now, because NO changes went 'out'.

I have saved this page as index.html
I have exported it by clicking on the tool bar 'Export website' as index.html
Then I clicked on the toolbar's 'Publish' Button, it loaded - but NO change in the website.
(I also did it via File -> Publish)
Still the old scrambled page is visible.

PS - on the bottom 'Created by *JFK' has no link either, although I MADE a link

WHAT the hell am I doing wrong?

    www.busstopband.net

    I'm dispairing here.

Sorry - your page source tells a different story. There are no links at all present.

Are you pressing 'Apply' after creating the link?

    Yes I do. Always 'apply'

That's what I'm talking about all along.
I do all the links, but there are none.

I uploaded a changed page 'index' it's not THERE. It's not publishing.

Regarding source: for the *JFK link this is what's in the source
    <a href="http://www.Bonanzle.com/EuropeanGoodies" target="_blank" >Created by *JFK</a></span></span>
    </span>

somewhere in the middle - but NOT on the bottom.
The link doesn't work. The cursor doesn't even change to indicate there is a link.
