Default Vanishing Point in 3D tool

    Hi People,

I couldn't find any reference to determining the vanishing point for a 3D extrusion I'm trying to made using the 3D tool in Xara Designer PRO 6. Is there one? Or do I have to try combining the 3D result with a mold (which I couldn't do either)

    HELP!

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

The Extrusion Tool does not have a vanishing point. Least, not a visible one.

You can determine three angles for the object is about as close as you can come.

And you cannot add an Envelope to an extrusion.

But you can apply a perspective envelope (Mould Tool) to an object, and then apply an Extrusion to the enveloped object.

Thanks for the reply. Pity about that. Isn't this a feature that other people found missing too?

Pretty cool Got a tutorial for that perhaps?

What I needed to do was match up some imaginary product to a real-life photo (like adding a special box to the back of a photo of a laptop). I could have done it as a one-off graphic, but I was trying to match up the 3D extrusion. Still...

What a great answer. I would call that clever - not cheating!

In addition to the 3 angles you can apply to an extrusion, you can also adjust the perspective.

That's true, and not a bad feature. Now all they need is the ability to perhaps use a bunch of guides as basis for the vanishing point, and we're good.

...err guys, this is how I created my 3D Extruded shape to a vanishing point.. Too subtle?
