Thread: Site Map

    Default Site Map

I know that you should have a good site map on your site for search engine optimisation.

Is it best to do this in WD or to get code from a site map generator?

If you do do it in WD, is it simply a case of listing the page titles and providing links to them, or is it more specialised than this? How do you do this with a site map generator?

If you use google webmaster tools then you only need to have a Sitemap.xml file on the server at the top level, google will then read this and you don't need an actual sitemap page
    on the website itself.

I have found it easier this way that having an actual sitemap page. There is a free sitemap generator called GSiteCrawler which spiders your site and creates the sitemap for you.

Just to add to the above - an actual sitemap page can help visitors to your site - depends on how big it is.
