Dotted outlines instead of solid when drawing boxes, etc.

When I draw a box, line or typing/pasting text, I get a dotted outline with no fill even when I select outline and fill colors, which are shown as selected at the bottom of the screen where the color bar is. After saving and previewing, none of the boxes, lines or text show -- not even as dotted lines.

I know it must be something simple, but I can't find it!

It has been great reading through the forum and learning some good stuff!

Sounds like you are drawing on the 'Guides' layer instead of the 'MouseOff' layer (or 'Layer1' if a print document)
