Cutting Objects From Photos

Hi folks I'm new to this so have problems using certain apps.
I am using Web Designer 6 and when I try to cut out a piece of photo I get stuck at the black shape
No matter what I try I cannot get the intersect shapes box to open and do the job
Can anyone help

Once you have the black shape created, you must select both the black shape and the photo for any operation to work. Select the black shape with the selecter tool, then hold down the shift key and click on the photo. This way you should have selected both items.........frank

I've tried that but no joy.
The combine shapes bar highlights but it is impossible to get the intersect shapes one to highlight
I've watched some vids on you tube but they all seem to be for xtreme and not designer 6 which is the new version
Maybe I should go to the tec boys at Magix

The mask object has to be in front of the photo.

Select both the mask and the photo.

From the Arrange menu, select Combine Shapes and from the fly out menu, select Intersect Shapes.

This means you do not have more than one shape selected OR you have two or more shapes selected where an Intersect Shapes operation would be illegal

All of the Xara versions going back years do this in exactly the same way so any tutorial for Intersect Shapes would be relevant to your query

I'd recommend you post the XAR/WEB file here - you'll normally have a result in seconds or minutes
