    Default Name That Celebrity Effect

    Hello,

I came across this picture at http://thecount.com/2009/03/26/guess...-win-a-cookie/ recently and I was wondering whether it would be possible for Xara to replicate the effect of distorting your own photographs for a Christmas fun quiz at work later in the year.

Alternatively, has anybody used a good caricature making software (prefably a freebie) that they have used and would recommend to me instead.

    Thank you, DiscoverIT

There are several ways to achieve that type of effect using Xtreme/Designer.

The attached image uses one of the two color fills that come with Xtreme/Designer to fill a rectangle and a photo positioned over the rectangle. A Flat Stained Glass 100% transparency is applied to the photo.

You can use some blur effect if you wish.

If you use the Live Effects > Deformation > Liquid Colour filter you can achieve some frightening effects!!!

All the help that you have received so far is good information but this is really a job for a PhotoShop plugin! These plugins may or may not work with the Live Effects Tool do a search in Google and have a look at this download: http://www.brothersoft.com/mosaic-toolkit-170882.html

Who needs plug-ins when you have Xara?

Thank you to everybody who has repsonsed to my request for help.

Beretgascon - I have been unable to replicate what you did in your post 6. Am I correct in that you adopted Soquili's method, if so where did you get the lego pattern as I am unable to locate this. If you did not follow Soquili's method, could you please provide me with short precis on how you achieved this.

    Thank you, DiscoverIT

The following was made simply by creating a bitmap copy at 20 dpi and selecting a View Quality of 3 (Full Color) which is the center position of the View quality slider.

Export with the view quality at that postion and antialiasing will be turned off so you get the pixelated image.

View quality set at 3 and bitmap copy at 5 dpi makes an interesting effect.
